Chic Shoes is a real-life “rags to riches” story about a team of people overcoming the odds to create a successful new business venture while saving the jobs of their colleagues. Following the closure of Olympic Flair’s shoe factory in Cape Town, the factory’s supervisors raised finance from the IDC to buy the company’s manufacturing equipment. As a result Chic Shoes was born as an empowered company producing quality ladies leather shoes.
Chic Shoes has grown into a successful company manufacturing shoes for fashion designers, independent ladies fashion retailers and chain stores (Truworths, John Craig, Foschini). Chic Shoes also supplies a niche market based on Government tender contracts for departments like the SA Army, SA Navy, SA Police Services and Correctional Services.
In addition, Chic Shoes produces ladies shoes for the corporate market including Standard Bank and South African Airways. Chic provides shoe design services and sells its own shoe designs using the Bella and Bella Soullier label.
Chic Shoes operates from its factory in Parow Industria, Cape Town and employs a highly skilled team of approximately 100 staff members producing up to 900 pairs of shoes per day. Chic Shoes products conform to the highest quality standards.
All products delivered for Government tenders are vetted and approved by the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) while its manufacturing facilities are inspected at regular intervals as per the applicable tender requirements.
